Music Ministry

The morning worship service at Jacksonville Presbyterian Church (JVPC) is a continuous expression of our adoration and reverence of our Lord and God. We begin each service with a “Call to Worship” where we set our hearts and minds toward the Lord. The rest of the service expresses worship through music, prayers, hearing the word and responding to the leading of the Lord. Our worship is described in Isaiah 25:1

“LORD, you are my God, I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.”

An important component of the musical worship at JPC is reflected in the multi-generational community that attends the services. As we give praise in song, careful consideration is given to provide music that connects with each group reflected in the congregation. We often times sing a few hymns, an “oldie” praise song and then some current expressions of worship from current Christian radio. As a community of believers, we seek to honor and respect the worship preferences of each generation as we give praise and adoration to our Lord and Savior.

One of the most important aspects of worship at JPC is our desire to involve as many people as possible in leading the congregation. There are a number of ways that people can participate in worship.

1. Jacksonville Choir

  • The choir at Jacksonville is led by Andrew and Andrea Brock.  Singing in the choir is a great way to get involved in musical worship at JPC.  Rehearsals are on Wednesday’s from 7:00 – 8:30 pm.
  • Each rehearsal concludes with a prayer time, singing in the choir at JPC is more like becoming a member of a musical family. If you are interested in participating, check out our contact page

2. Jacksonville Worship

The worship band is led by Doug Hanson.  People interested in participating need to audition so they can demonstrate how they sing or play. The audition is non-threatening so don’t be too nervous. Rehearsals for worship team are on Tuesday’s from 5:30 – 7:30pm.  If you desire to participate, please email Doug via our contact page

3. Technical Team

  • The JPC technical team supports the service with audio, lighting, media and video. Each aspect of the technical team provides a critical component to our worship service and helps to create a distraction free environment in the service each Sunday morning. If you are interested in participating on the technical team, contact us at our contact page
