Sunday School

Vision: Here at JPC, we believe that connecting people with God, each other, and ministry is the ultimate way to ensure a deep and lasting relationship with Christ and continued spiritual growth; and this mission isn’t any different when it comes to our children’s programs. In our classrooms, children learn about Jesus through curriculum, song, prayer, stories, art, and activities. They have open dialogue and conversation with their peers and have various opportunities to foster and grow real relationships with other Christian children and adults. We also encourage participation in different outreach and missional opportunities throughout the year, allowing children to go beyond these church walls and spread the news of the Gospel through meeting the needs of our community and beyond. Proverbs 22:6 says to “start children off the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” Here, at JPC we believe in equipping our young children with biblical truth and Jesus’ love from nursery ages on up.

Nursery: We have an infant-friendly facility with trained and vetted volunteers managed by our nursery coordinator. Infants through age 2 are welcome at both services and may be dropped off before the start of the service. We have a check-in/check-out system that includes pagers for parents, so they may relax and enjoy hearing God’s word without having to worry about their babies.

Preschool: Preschool is offered at both services and is open to children ages 3-4 years. Children follow a curriculum taught by lead teachers who are also church members; and who work on a rotational basis so that children can build and maintain relationships with their teachers.

Sunday school: Sunday school is offered at both services and classrooms are organized by grade level (Kinder-1st, 2nd-3rd, 4th-6th) at the first service, with a combined K-6th group during the second service. Lead teachers work on a rotational basis, providing continuity for the children and allowing them to establish relationships with their teachers.

Curriculum: For the 2018-2019 school year, we are following the 30-week Believe curriculum, used in both preschool and Sunday school, we are teaching children how to think, act, and become more like Jesus. Students are learning biblical truths of 60 different Old and New Testament stories, supplementing themed lessons that help children to understand Jesus in relevant and meaningful ways.

Worship and Service Sundays: On the first Sunday of the month, we celebrate kids worship and service. Students Preschool-6th grade worship together through choreographed worship songs that are kid-friendly. The lesson for the day points to biblical reference on serving others and serving God, and we have different service projects and outreach activities that we do as a group.

Shining Stars: A club offered to 3rd-6th grade girls. This is an opportunity for women in the church to come alongside our young girls and mentor them on being a woman after God’s own heart. These meetings happen on a monthly-basis and together the girls have Bible study and do various activities as a group. Volunteers are always welcome!

Club 456: A club offered to 4th-6th grade boys. Men throughout the church body offer up their time and talents to lead young boys in fun and engaging activities that help them to explore God’s creation through a Christian lens. Volunteers are always welcome!
