Music Ministry

The morning worship service at Jacksonville Presbyterian Church (JPC) is a continuous expression of our adoration and reverence of our Lord and God. We begin each service with a “Call to Worship” where we set our hearts and minds toward the Lord. The rest of the service expresses worship through music, prayers, hearing the word and responding to the leading of the Lord. Our worship is described in Isaiah 25:1

“LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.”

An important component of the musical worship at JPC is reflected in the multi-generational community that attends the services. As we give praise in song, careful consideration is given to provide music that connects with each group reflected in the congregation. We often times sing a few hymns, an “oldie” praise song and then some current expressions of worship from current Christian radio. As a community of believers, we seek to honor and respect the worship preferences of each generation as we give praise and adoration to our Lord and Savior.

One of the most important aspects of worship at JPC is our desire to involve as many people as possible in leading the congregation. There are a number of ways that people can participate in worship.

1. Jacksonville Choir – The choir at Jacksonville is led by Andrew and Andrea Brock – both local choir teachers in the Rogue Valley. Singing in JPC’s choir is a great way to begin your involvement in the musical component of worship at JPC. The choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 – 8:30 pm from September through June. Each rehearsal concludes with a prayer time where members share the concerns of their lives in prayer. Singing in the choir at JPC is more like becoming a member of a musical family. If you are interested in participating, you can email the Brocks via our contact us page

2. Worship Team – The worship team is led by Doug Hanson, a veteran worship musician from the past 30 years. People interested in participating in the worship team will need to go through an informal audition process where they are asked to play and/or sing – demonstrating their musical ability to worship. Most people who audition as worship team members are quickly incorporated in the musical family of the worship team. Rehearsals for worship team will begin on Tuesday evenings starting in September of this year. If you desire to participate with the worship team, please email Doug via our contact us page

3. Technical Team – One of the most important contributors to our Sunday service is the “behind the scenes” technical team. The JPC technical team supports the service with audio, media and soon to be added – video. Each aspect of the technical team provides a critical component to our worship service and helps to create a distraction free environment in the service each Sunday morning. If you are interested in participating on the technical team, please email Doug via our contact us page
